A tornado ripped through a European city and hundreds of people were saved in its path.

Creepy video shows roofs ripped off the streets of Milan, Italy, filled with fallen trees and damaged buildings.

The city was battered by wind and rain before the tornado began sweeping the streets around 11 a.m. local time. The extent of the damage remains unclear, but firefighters were dispatched to over 110 calls.

Many areas are flooded, with fears that several have been injured, reports the Italian weather site.

A van was also driven into a canal in the village of Bubbiano. Fortunately, the driver managed to get out safely.

In another lucky escape, a driver survived after a tree fell on his car in Cinisello Balsamo.

This comes two years after northern Italy experienced chaos after multiple tornadoes tore through the region.

A series of tornadoes swept through the Po Valley, between Lombardy and Emilia, after another tornado hit the island of Pantelleria.

At least six tornadoes hit Lombardy, while a seventh tore through Emilia.

Meanwhile, in 2018, a colossal tornado swept through rough seas toward a tourist resort in Italy.

A video clip shows a tornado waterspout, which looks like a super storm from the hit movie Twister, moving towards the southwestern city of Salerno.

Witnesses said the huge column of water lifted about 20 heavy shipping containers in the port city and threw them around like children's toys.
