Truss leads Sunak by 32 points in new poll despite 'complete turnaround' on pay

Rishi Sunak follows Liz Truss in the leadership race conservative by a 32-point gap, according to a new survey by influential website ConservativeHome.

Of 1,003 members surveyed, 58% supported Ms. Truss and 26% supported Mr. Sunak.

The inquiry came today and yesterday as Ms Truss was forced into an embarrassing raid on pay cut plans for public sector workers outside London.

His team immediately welcomed the results saying they showed "the vision for the UK is resonating with members".

"They believe in her bold and ambitious economic plan for the country, they know she is on the side of people who work hard and do the right thing and they trust her to seize opportunities Brexit".

But they insisted they weren't complacent and that Liz would "continue to scramble for every vote" in the weeks she had left to run in the competition.

She received another boost with the endorsement of former Chancellor Sajid Javid, who warned that Rishi Sunak's economic plans would lead Britain to "doze in a sluggish economy. taxation and low growth".

The decision of MM. Javid and Sunak's resignation less than an hour apart last month sparked a series of resignations that ultimately ended Boris Johnson's term as prime minister.
