Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua announcement announced with 'big meetings going on'

Former boxer Matt Macklin thinks an announcement is imminent regarding Tyson Fury's potential fight with Anthony Joshua. Fury and Joshua originally agreed to meet in one of the biggest fights in British boxing history on December 3 in Cardiff.

Fury, however, claimed the fight was called off on Monday, after fellow English heavyweight rival failed to sign the contract before a tight deadline he had set. After posting previous messages on social media encouraging Joshua to sign, he then took to Instagram. The Gypsy King said in the video: "Well guys it's official. D-Day has passed.

"It passed five o'clock on Monday. No contract signed. It's officially over for Joshua. He's now out in the cold with the wolf pack. Forget it," before calling Joshua an: "dumb, coward, sh**house...and a bodybuilder."

He continued, "I always knew. I always knew you didn't have the resources to fight the Gypsy King. No matter what you say now, I don't care at all. Good luck in your career, and your life. End of. Peace."

Macklin, however, thinks there is still a chance that the "Battle of Britain will continue in 10 weeks", and he expects an announcement to be made in the "coming weeks". He told iFL TV: “I think it will happen… 10 weeks is two and a half months. It's still pretty long, and it's not like this fight needs promotion.

"It's going to sell out overnight... Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of time but they don't have time to waste. They need to be on it now, they need to do it and really announce it in the next few weeks…

"I imagine over the next 10 days, two weeks, this fight will be put to bed, contracts will be signed and announced." Regardless of Fury's comments regarding contract failures, the veteran believes there will always be "big meetings" behind the scenes to get the fight started.

He continued, "I think it's just in the process now. It's with the lawyers, it's with the broadcasters. Big meetings will happen, people will send in drafts, they'll review it. These things can't be rushed, but I think it will happen."
