Ubisoft explains how Stadia users can get free PC copies of games

You can stream them via GeForce Now or Luna.

After Google announced the closure of Stadia earlier this year, Ubisoft said it would help users transfer their purchases to PC. We got more details today, as the publisher says it will provide free PC versions of all Ubisoft games purchased on Stadia. The editor also has other benefits to make the transition as smooth as possible for discontinued users of Google's platform.

Everyone who has purchased Ubisoft games on Stadia should see the PC versions of those games appear in their Ubisoft Connect accounts at no additional cost. If your Stadia and Ubisoft accounts are not yet linked, connect them before Stadia closes on January 18 to get PC games. Additionally, if you've played cross-progress Ubisoft games (full list), you can pick up your progress on PC where you left off on Stadia.

Ubisoft notes that any unspent virtual currency will not be transferred. However, if redeemed in Stadia before January 18, purchased items will carry over to PC (but only for games that support cross-progression). Meanwhile, Stadia players who have subscribed to Ubisoft+ Multi-Access (the company's plan that lets you play on multiple devices) will receive an email telling them how to sign up directly through the Stadia website. Ubisoft+. As a bonus, subscribers will also get a free month of Ubisoft+. The publisher notes that US residents can continue to stream Ubisoft+ games through Amazon Luna, and those living elsewhere will get a discount on Ubisoft+ Multi-Access for six months. Additionally, if you have purchased or subscribed to Ubisoft content on Stadia, you will receive a free month of GeForce Now Priority.

Benefits are in addition to Google refunds for all game purchases. Ubisoft's PC games are therefore a free consolation prize. Investing in a cloud gaming platform requires customers to be confident that their purchases won't be wasted if the platform goes down, but at least Google and its partners are doing what they can to fix that. p>
