Legislation to regulate certain internet services in the UK should cover activities in the metaverse, according to members of the House of Lords.

During a July 12 session of the British Parliament, members of the upper house debated whether the Online Safety Bill would cover "certain harmful content" that users might encounter online. a virtual environment like the Metaverse. Many lawmakers have been considering how regulations might deal with the "horrible things" - according to member Illora Finlay from Llandaff, Wales - that children might encounter online.

"The metaverse should not exceed the scope of the bill, nor should the environments created by it," said Timothy Clement-Jones, member. "If we don't include this type of provider environment in its scope, we will fail our children and vulnerable adults and fail at work."
