Max Verstappen said he felt his Red Bull car was "falling apart" during the British Grand Prix and that seventh place was a good result under the circumstances.

The Red Bull driver started his day at Silverstone quite positively; take the lead of the race from Carlos Sainz, after the Spanish driver made an unforced error when going off the track.

Verstappen's move to the front came after the race restarted, following a frightening crash with several cars.

However, the Red Bull driver subsequently suffered significant structural damage to his car. As a result, he found himself struggling in midfield and the 24-year-old grew increasingly frustrated with the team radio.

"Critical [damage] means the car can no longer be driven," he told Sky Sports F1.

"I had just taken the lead because of Carlos' 'moment' and a few corners later there was debris on the racing line.
