Vin Diesel Never Starred In 'Avatar' Movies Despite Rumors, Says Producer Jon Landau

The rumor was swirling too fast, too furious for "Avatar" fans.

After Vin Diesel sent 'Avatar' audiences into a frenzy with a 2019 Instagram video opposite James Cameron, 'Avatar: The Way of Water' producer Jon Landau shut down the claims that Diesel had previously been approached to star.

"Vin was a fan," said Jon Landau. "He walked in, visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took that out of context."

In the video, Diesel teases alongside Cameron that "there's one person in Hollywood I've always wanted to work with and always wanted to learn from, and so it all comes down to, I guess, those who wait". However, Diesel is not in "The Way of Water", and will next be seen on screen in "Fast and Furious" "Fast X".

Meanwhile, "Avatar" writer-director Cameron has confirmed that more sequels are on the way.

"It looks like with the momentum of the movie now, we'll easily break even in the next few days, so it looks like I can't get away with it - I'm going to have to do these other sequels" , said Cameron during the show "Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?" from HBO. (via ). “I know what I'm going to do in the next six or seven years. The point is, we're going to get through this. I'm sure we'll have a chat with the best at Disney soon about the game plan for 'Avatar 3', which is already in the box - we've already captured and photographed the entire film, so we're in extended post-production to make all that CG magic. And then "Avatar 4" and "5" are both written. We even have a few "4"s in the box. We started a franchise at this point. We've started a saga that can now span multiple films."
