Personnel, including crew of aircraft and pilots, will be able to choose which uniform they wear: the company's 'red', previously most often worn by air hostesses, or the 'burgundy' option, previously worn by men on board.

This includes allowing men to wear skirts and women to wear pants, as well as increasing options for uniforms available for non-binary staff members.

Virgin is also introducing mandatory inclusion training for all its staff at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays, as well as inclusion learning for tourism partners.

The airline has partnered with RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage in an effort to "reflect the diversity of its workforce " and "to offer its employees a fluid approach". to its red and burgundy uniforms, which means LGBTQ+ colleagues will be able to choose the red or burgundy uniform, whichever is more reflective.'

The company will also be rolling out optional pronoun badges that will allow staff and customers to display the pronouns they wish to be referenced by. Badges, available from today, can be requested at check-in.
