Prime Minister Mark Drakeford has told Labor in Wales to prepare for a snap election in the UK as they believe the Conservative government is on the verge of being overwhelmed.

The Welsh Labor leader has put his party on a ballot as he believes the Rishi Sunak administration is 'staggering' and may be forced to call an early poll.

The next election is expected to take place before January 2025, and it is expected to be called next year in Westminster.

But the government can call a snap election at any time. Britain's last two elections came early - in 2017 when Theresa May rejected her majority in the House of Commons and in 2019 when Boris Johnson won a landslide Conservative victory.

Mr. Drakeford insisted the UK needed a 'fresh start' after the utter chaos of 2022, which saw the Tories oust both Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, the latter trashing the economy with her mini budget.

"We don't need 18 months of a worn-out government that has lost credibility and can't even win the support of its own reeling MPs," Mr Drakeford told the Guardian.
