West Ham 1-1 Tottenham: Paquet made his Hammers debut in London derby draw

Thilo Kehrer's own goal was ruled out by Tomas Soucek's second-half equalizer as West Ham and Tottenham tied the points at the London Stadium.

The Hammers could have snatched all three after debuting club record Lucas Paqueta.

Boss David Moyes claimed before kick-off that Paqueta hadn't even passed the ball to his new team-mates after completing his £52million move from Lyon on Monday.

And it showed when, four minutes from time, Vladimir Coufal took the ball away, only for Paqueta and his new signing Emerson Palmieri to drop the ball to each other, 10 yards from goal.

Moyes fell to his knees on the touchline after the Brazil international squandered the chance to become an instant hero for the Hammers.

The Scot will be quite pleased with a point, however, after an own goal from Kehrer gave the unbeaten Spurs the initiative.

Despite a summer outlay of £175million, West Ham's starting line-up bears an uncanny resemblance to last year's squad, with Kehrer being the only new face.

The German defender has had an inauspicious start to his career for the Hammers after also allowing a penalty on his debut against Brighton a fortnight ago.

Spurs were awarded a spot kick after 11 minutes when Harry Kane headed Ivan Perisic's cross past Aaron Cresswell's outstretched arm.

But after a four-and-a-half-minute VAR review, referee Peter Bankes finally went to the monitor which showed the ball had hit Cresswell's face before his arm, and the decision was overturned.

Moments later Declan Rice, making his 200th appearance for the Hammers, had a volley saved by Hugo Lloris before Michail Antonio, in his 200th Premier League game for the club, fired a shot that cut the second pole.

But Tottenham took the lead with a classic counter-attack after Eric Dier intercepted a one-two between Rice and Said Benrahma at the edge of the Spurs area.

Dier's first pass found Kane, who fed Dejan Kulusevski before sprinting past him on the outside and collecting the return ball.

Kane's cross was aimed at Son Heung-min but Kehrer got there first and deflected the ball into the net, denying the South Korean a first goal of the season.

West Ham equalized after 55 minutes when Antonio collected a quick throw-in and manufactured a smart shot past Soucek, who took a throw-in before slotting the ball past Lloris from six yards out.

Jarrod Bowen stabbed a good chance before, in the 67th minute, Paqueta was sent off in place of Benrahma.

Pablo Fornals should have given West Ham the lead shortly after Bowen's pullback, but he blew away.

Then came the afterthought from Paqueta and Emerson in front of goal before Bowen smashed the ball through the goal, but Antonio was unable to apply the finish, and a derby ding- dong ended squared.
