Rishi Sunak is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after winning the support of the vast majority of the Conservative parliamentary party to be named their new leader, after taking up the challenge of Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt.

Mr. Sunak is a familiar face having served as Chancellor to Boris Johnson throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, when he led the £69billion furlough scheme to keep people in work and the (possibly reckless) Eat Out to Help Our campaign to encourage economic growth.

He was also criticized during this time after being caught up in the 'Partygate' fury, for which he received a penalty notice fixed, following revelations about his wealthy family's tax strategies and for his unpopular spring statement earlier this year, which was deemed insufficient to protect the public from a worsening cost of living crisis. p>
