Are our homes really dog ​​friendly? With a third of us now having a loyal dog as a family member, it's perhaps no wonder that we are integrating creature comforts more and more into our properties. And after luxury beds and designer raincoats, the latest must-have for any discerning dog lover is a...dog shower.

But don't Don't be fooled into thinking that just having a shower room downstairs means you're aware of this latest trend.

I'm talking about luxury, canine-sized, dedicated dog bathing areas worthy of a five-star spa. Beautiful tiling, Farrow & Ball painted panels, with custom dog-themed accessories...

I admit it, it's not a trend that I took in me. . . Again. For now, I don't plan on spending money on hot showers for my Cockapoos, Maple and Piccolo, when an outside garden hose - or if they're particularly dirty, a tub filled used bath water - will do.

However, since they are both prone to getting dirty again during the washing process, I can understand the temptation. (However, if your dog, like mine, isn't a big fan of being washed, you might have a hard time getting your ungrateful pooch into their smart bathroom in the first place.)
