7-0> a trophy I understand this is a bit of emotional damage control from United fans. But given United's recent trophy win, it got me thinking. Which would I prefer? Win the league cup? Or beat United 7-0?

The answer is quite simple. It's 7-0. We beat United 7-0. It doesn't happen. I grew up with Fergie United. Winning against them was rare. It was special. The 4-1 was sensational. But never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined to stuff them 7-0. It would have been quite inconceivable. 7-0!!! Back then, we won the league cup several times. But we never wiped out our biggest rivals.

This is a historical result. Literally. United's worst joint defeat. And Liverpool inflicted it on them. It will remain in the record books for potentially the next 50 years or more. It will forever be engraved in the folklore of this tie. Nobody will ever forget it. Fans who are young today will tell their grandkids when they are old and gray.

Winning the league cup? Yeah, that's good. But it's not great. No one will remember it with much fondness. Liverpool won the league cup last season, and that was fun. But stuffing United 7-0 was better. What if you say to me, "Oh, football isn't about winning trophies?" Maybe as a player, yes. I'm sure a player would rather win the league cup than beat a rival But as a fan it's all about joyful moments. And it's right up there. I'll be watching the best moments on youtube (no DVD Paul needed, keep it up) for years. I will not be watching replays of the League Cup final.

Enjoy my cup final? Yes I did it. Probably more than you enjoyed yours. Mike, LFC, London (Waiting for backlash from United fans who all think the league cup is better - it's funny)

Complacency sets in United's interesting display yesterday, to say the least, reminded me of Brazil's stunning display against Germany in 2014 when they lost 7- 1 in Brazil in the semi-finals of the World Cup. I say at least because United have improved a lot this season, have already won a trophy and should also secure a place in the Top 4 AND may well end up with another cup to their name. Let's be clear though, United have had a MUCH better season than Liverpool so far. United have come up against a better team overall, and you can see Klopp has really built some world-class players into the squad with the likes of Salah, Van Dijk, Mane before and now potentially Nunez, but they are one game away from going trophyless this season against Madrid. If they win this game somehow I would probably back them to win it considering they would have beaten the more experienced team.

I will give Ten Haag the care to stick to his guns and play the way he wants in every match, regardless of the opponent. Is there a silly nativity given his first season in English football? Maybe so and was detrimental in some games and went very south. However, I think it also shows that he knows he is very self-aware, that he has to learn a lot more in the job and quickly to set his own standards, but the positivity is that he seems to be on the right track in terms of coaching and knowledge. the players and realizes that if he wants to win and challenge for the title in the future, he has to play with the team the way he wants in every game, so he should be extremely well supported this summer . Tactically looking back, Fernandes on the left was odd, and the only criticism I would say of the line and approach. Maybe should have started Sancho down the left with Rashford up front, maybe not the best game to start Weghorst due to his speed and intensity.

However, 5 key points to go after yesterday's game in which some possibilities were created:

– With the confidence hugely improved for Liverpool after this win, I can now potentially see Salah score a hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Liverpool win 5-1 in extra time. After that Liverpool will hopefully reach the final and then lose painfully.– After what was such a pointless and heavy defeat (if it was 3-0, 4-1 yes you just put your hands up and to say a bad day at the office), but 7-0 is a bit of a statement and humiliating. It has also emboldened many teams that United have yet to play this season, especially away from home. United still have to face Newcastle, Brighton & Spurs away from home this season so they better get their act together for those games in particular otherwise you won't...
