Witch Mountain: Disney+ Orders Pilot Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard

Disney+ has officially given a pilot order to the upcoming series adaptation of Witch Mountain, based on the fantasy action-adventure film franchise of the same name. Leading the cast is Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, who has signed on to play the role of a devoted and loving mother named Audrey. This is Howard's last collaboration with the streamer after directing a few episodes of The Mandalorian.

The Witch Mountain pilot is described as a reimagining of the franchise. "It's a modern reimagining of the cult classic that takes place in the shadow of Witch Mountain following two teenagers who develop uncanny abilities and discover that their sleepy suburb may not be as idyllic as it seems. 'looks like it,' reads the logline.

She will be joined by young series regulars Isabel Gravitt (The Watcher) as Tia, Levi Miller (Streamline) as Ben, Bianca "b" Norwood (We Crashed) as Corey and Jackson Kelly (Straight Man) as Peter. Full character descriptions are listed below:

Audrey – Tia's mother whose husband died of mental illness. She tries to reassure an agitated Tia that she shows no signs of following her father's dark spiral. A warm type of mama bear, but like everyone else in this town, all is not as it seems. Tia – a straight college student who is considered by her classmates to be "perfect", despite considering herself imperfect. She is terrified of failure and plagued by nightmares and fears that her late father's schizophrenia is beginning to manifest in her. Tia has "hallucinations" in which people around her come out of their living bodies and express their deepest and darkest fears, desires, and rages. Ben – a troubled teenager who makes ends meet by writing articles for other students. but he has a hot temper and if he hits another student, he will be expelled. Ben is Corey's best friend, his colleague at the restaurant. He recently made a disturbing discovery about himself, he can force others in his neighborhood to move according to his will, and there is something that inexplicably draws him to Tia. Corey - Ben's closest friend, a stranger with tattoos, Corey is a very mature teenager who seems older than them. They are one step away from being kicked out and paying more attention to sounding like a My Chemical Romance song that became an anime fan. Corey works at the local diner alongside Ben and is part of his circle of trust, but resents him when he tries to act as a protector. Peter - Tia's closest male friend. Peter is lovesick about Tia, but she is unaware of his charms and also unaware of his devotion. But when Tia expresses her concerns about the seemingly impossible events surrounding them, she learns that Peter's watchful and cautious nature could be an asset in understanding the mystery surrounding them.

The Witch Mountain pilot will be written and produced by Travis Fickett and Terry Matalas. Augustine Frizzell is also set to direct and produce. Executive producers are John Fox and John Davis of Davis Entertainment, along with Gary Marsh. The Disney Branded Television series is produced by ABC Signature.
