A woman posted a picture of her and her boyfriend cuddling just hours before he shot and killed her.

Ferni Cristina Ayala Palacios accompanied the photo with a one-word comment: "Honey".

Clara, Ferni's 28-year-old sister, became concerned after she was unable to contact her and reported her missing to the police.

Officers found the body of Ferni Cristina Ayala Palacios at her home with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Forensic experts said she had been dead for several hours.

Authorities have identified his partner, Esteban Rojas, 44, as the prime suspect.

Esteban, who had been dating the victim for about 18 months and lived with her for seven months, has since been on the run, according to police.

The Paraguayan couple lived in the neighborhood of Zavaleta in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires.

Ferni was reportedly shot in the early hours of February 19 after spending the evening bowling with Esteban and his two sisters.

The group went bowling to see a band that Ferni liked. Around 2 a.m., she posted a photo of herself cuddling Esteban while still in town with the message, "sweetheart."

She was killed a few hours later.
