'Wonder Woman' star Lynda Carter: Leave trans women alone and focus on the real war on women

Lynda Carter reminds fans that being a Wonder Woman isn't just about being a cis woman.

Following recent comments from Bette Midler and Macy Gray on trans women's rights, both enjoying the support of longtime TERFer voice JK Rowling, Carter took to social media to refocus the mission of women's rights amid Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade.

"I can't think of anything that helps women's rights less than blaming trans women," Carter . “They face so much violence and scrutiny. Leave them alone and focus on the real war against women. This is happening in courts and legislatures across the country. »

Earlier this year, Carter kicked off Pride Month by confirming that Wonder Woman is bisexual. The 'Wonder Woman 1984' star continued, "I didn't write 'Wonder Woman,' but if you want to argue that she's somehow not a queer or trans icon, then you don't. Every time someone comes up to me and says 'WW' helped them while they were locked up, it reminds me how special the role is."

"That was pretty much the same shit women - ALL WOMEN - have been putting up with since cavemen," Midler tweeted. “Even then, the men were headlining. But seriously, folks, if anyone reading this tweet thinks I have anything other than love for marginalized people, go to Wikipedia and type in my name."

The 'Hocus Pocus 2' star continued, "For as long as I can remember, I've fought for marginalized people. Yet if you want to dismiss my 60 years of proven love and concern about a tweet that accidentally irritated the people I've always supported and adored, so be it."

Midler concluded, "But the truth is, democracy is slipping through our fingers! I'm all for saving democracy for ALL. We need to unite because, in case you don't would not have paid attention, divided, we will definitely fall."

PEOPLE OF THE WORLD! My tweet about women was a response to this fascinating and well-written article in the NYT on July 3. . There was no exclusionary or transphobic intent in what I said; it wasn't about that.
