Xavi encouraged by Lewandowski, '99% sure' of the Barcelona team

Barcelona coach Xavi is confident that Robert Lewandowski will soon find his groove at the club, having failed to find the net in pre-season.

The Polish international is one of Barcelona's star additions for the 2022-23 season, coming from Bayern Munich, and arrives with an established reputation as one of Europe's deadliest finishers.< /p>

Goals haven't come in preparation for the new season, but Xavi isn't worried and believes there have been encouraging signs already.

"The good thing is that he had all these chances, I'm sure he will score them," he said after Barcelona's win over New York Red Bulls.

"In formation they are entering; today they did not enter. I am convinced that they will enter, I trust him.

"It happened with Luis Suarez, Ferran [Torres] last year. He's going to have chances to score; tonight he got them, that's the positive side."

There could still be more transfer activity at Camp Nou as Frenkie de Jong continues to be of interest to Manchester United.

Xavi insisted playing De Jong in central defense in a previous friendly was not a 'signal' that he should leave, despite the coach having almost finalized his team's plans first.

"I don't know if there will be more [signings], it all depends on financial fair play and finances," Xavi said. "There will be releases, and I've been clear about that.

"I think I'm 99% sure about [the final team roster], and most players know that too. We've spoken to the players whose futures we've decided on."
