Xiaomi's new 2-in-1 robot vacuum cleaner can wash and dry its own mops

In addition to the launch of the 12T series of smartphones today, Xiaomi also announced that its Robot Vacuum X10+ — which debuted in China in April — is now heading to Europe. It's the company's most versatile robot vacuum yet: Not only can it vacuum with 4,000Pa suction and clean with dual pressurized rotating pads, but with its base station, it's can automatically empty its dustbin, refill its water tank, wash its mops and also dry them with heat. All in all, the robot vacuum itself should be low maintenance; you will only need to fill the base station's water tank and empty its waste water tank and dust bin from time to time.

It's not the first time that Xiaomi has launched a robot vacuum cleaner with both mopping and drying mop functions; it did this for the Chinese market almost a year ago. With other models, you would have to detach and wash the mop yourself which, let's be honest, isn't the most enjoyable job in the world. Even if you think the mop looks good after every use, chances are that it will end up getting smelly due to moisture promoting fungal growth. This is obviously not good.

The X10+ solves this problem with its multifunctional base station. Once docked, both mops will be cleaned by spinning damp brushes underneath, followed by a two-hour low heat drying session. Basically, you'll probably never have to touch mops until you need to replace them due to wear and tear. Additionally, the X10+ can detect carpets using its ultrasonic sensors, in which case it automatically lifts its mops.

Like its predecessors, the X10+ uses LDS (Laser Distance Sensor) for indoor mapping and navigation. It's also equipped with Xiaomi's own "S-Cross AI" system - a software trick combined with the machine's dual-line laser and RGB camera - to recognize types of objects ahead, to estimate the distance of appropriate clearance for each of them. Suppose you have a scale in your living room, the X10+ will keep a distance of 2-4cm from it just in case. As for the general pieces of furniture like the coffee table or the sofa, the robot can go up to them to perform its usual tasks. For those worried about adding another camera to their private space, Xiaomi has applied for a TÜV Rheinland Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Standard certificate for its X10+.

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ will be available across Europe from 899 euros (around $900). Compared to the $1,099 Roomba Combo j7+ that also ships today, Xiaomi definitely has a price advantage, especially since hardly any competition offers both self-cleaning features and of self-drying on their cleaning robots, not to mention combining them with automatic dust. emptying the bin.
