Bad News, Apple Fans: The $4 Trillion Tech Company announced Thursday that it raises prices on a wide range of products, from iPads to Macs and home devices. The huge price increases range from 18% to almost 33%, and refurbished devices also experienced price increases.
One of the biggest sticker shocks concerns the MacBook Neo. Launched earlier this year, Apple touted the new laptop as budget-friendly. Chromebook competitor, perfect for students. Now you’ll have to pay $699, an increase of $100 from the original $599.
Tim Cook, outgoing CEO suggested earlier this month that price increases were in the works, calling them “inevitable.” He highlighted the rise of artificial intelligence and the corresponding IT needs. Supply chain shortages were caused by record demand for memory and storage chips in major AI Data Centers. This has led several major tech companies to raise their prices, from Microsoft to Samsung.

Even though it is not one of the largest developers of AI software, like OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, Apple is not immune to rising production costs. The iPhone maker reached an agreement in May with Intel to produce some of its chips. But production problems didn’t stop Apple from announcing a 17% increase in revenue during its latest earnings call.
