Apple TV has the distinction of being one of the only streaming services to offer only original content on its platform: you won’t find a rotating library of blockbusters and classic sitcoms there. Instead, you’ll get a carefully curated collection of interesting content for kids and adults. This includes shows such as Ted LassoThe Morning Show and Shrinking, as well as films like F1: The Movie, all produced by and for Apple.
Because Apple’s content collection is carefully scheduled, it doesn’t release as many titles each month as some of the company’s competitors, but what it does offer still piques our interest. Next May, we can’t wait to see Tatiana Maslany’s series Maximum Guaranteed Pleasure. Billed as a darkly comedic thriller, we hope it reminds us of his incredible work on Orphan Black.
There’s also Star City, a new series from the creators of For All Mankind, and Propeller One-Way Night Coach, a family adventure film written and directed by John Travolta. Additionally, you can catch F1 races live this season and every MLS match on Apple TV now that MLS Season Pass is part of Apple’s subscription package. Football season is in full swing, with matches broadcast every week.

New shows on Apple TV in May
Unconditional (May 8)
Unconditional is a new Israeli thriller about a mother-daughter vacation that goes awry when 23-year-old Gali (Talia Lynne Ronn) is arrested for drug trafficking in Russia. Her mother, Orna (Liraz Chamami), refuses to accept the accusations, but as she attempts to clear her daughter’s name, she finds herself drawn into a web of crime and corruption. The eight-episode series will premiere with the first two episodes on Friday, May 8, followed by a new episode every Friday until June 19.
Maximum pleasure guaranteed (May 20)
If you’ve ever watched Orphan Black, you’ll know that there’s almost nothing Tatiana Maslany can’t do as an actress. Maslany played 17 different roles on the show, all clones of each other, all with completely distinct personalities. All of this is to say that we’ve been waiting for Maslany to star in a new series that would give him something equally juicy and fun to do, and the new comedy thriller Maximum Fun Guaranteed seems to be the answer.
In the new series, Maslany plays a newly divorced mother who believes she witnessed a crime and finds herself drawn into a dangerous investigation. As she navigates her personal life, she finds herself uncovering a conspiracy much deeper than she thought. The series stars Jase Johnson, Jessy Hodges and Murray Bartlett, and arrives on Apple TV on May 20.
Star City (May 29)
If you’re a fan of For All Mankind, you’re going to be into the new Star City series which comes from the same creators, Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore. The new series offers another perspective on this key moment in the alternate history of For All Mankind’s space race, when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the Moon. This time, however, the story is told from the perspective of the Soviets, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers participating in the Soviet space program. The show stars Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Agnes O’Casey and Alice Englert, and will premiere with two episodes on May 29.
