Adrien Brody Tried To Persuade 'Peaky Blinders' Writers To Keep It: 'I Didn't Want To Go Home'

Adrien Brody didn't want to hear the curtain call on his "Peaky Blinders" stint.

The Oscar-winning actor joined Season 4 of the hit Netflix series as New York mobster Luca Changretta in 2017, starring in six episodes. But Brody wanted more and even tried to persuade the showrunners to keep him for another season.

“I desperately tried to persuade them to find a way to keep Luca alive so he would come back for revenge,” Brody said. “I really wanted to stay. I didn't want to go home."

The 'Blonde' actor continued, "A character like that was something I've wanted to play for many years. There was room for all those fun things to honor a style of filmmaking and d actor that I loved, and a style, a character, and a tradition in the foundations of family, mafia, honor, and all of those things."

Now, after another TV stint on 'Succession', Brody is set to star in Wes Anderson's 'Asteroid City', Charlie Day's debut 'El Tonto', John Trengove's thriller 'Manodrome' , and comedy "Ghosted" alongside Chris Evans and "Blonde" co-star Ana de Armas. Brody will also play Charles V in 'Emperor' and star in 'The Salamander Lives Twice' opposite Vera Farmiga.

Steven Knight's British detective series 'Peaky Blinders' has wrapped up its six seasons on Netflix, but creator Knight has confirmed that the series will get a new life on the big screen. Knight is currently writing the script for the film from July 2022, living the "six seasons and one movie" concept.

Lead star Cillian Murphy confirmed the film was in the works, saying, "I'd be as excited as anyone to read a script. But I think it's good for everyone to do a little pause. It's always a healthy thing and then we can regroup. Steve is an incredibly busy and in-demand writer, but I know he loves writing 'Peaky' above all else, I'm sure he has you says the same thing. He loves it. So I think when the time comes, if there's more story to tell, I'll be there."
