An airline employee has been rebuffed after making the terrifying discovery of an entire snake head in a Sun Express meal.

The employee was mid-flight and about to eat when he is said to have made the gruesome discovery.

In a stomach-turning moment, which allegedly happened on a SunExpress flight from Turkey to Germany, a flight blog claims.

The crew was eating their food when among the potatoes and vegetables, one of the employees found his head.

The footage was shared in a video picked up by Turkish news site Gazete Duvar.

SunExpress told the press in Turkey that the incident was "absolutely unacceptable".

The airline announced that it has since suspended its contract with the food supplier due to the launch of an investigation.

In a statement, the airline said: "We would like to inform you that the allegations and sharing in the press regarding the in-flight catering service are absolutely unacceptable and that a detailed investigation has been opened into this matter. ."
