Alexander-Arnold reveals Liverpool changes following Klopp's 'reinvention' vow after Napoli

Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed what Jurgen Klopp has been up to since the Liverpool manager admitted the team needed to 'reinvent itself'.

Liverpool have had a difficult start to the season and currently sit eighth in the Premier League after winning just two of their first eight games.

Alexander-Arnold admits it's been difficult with games coming fast and well.

"I think I'm getting there, personally," the Liverpool right-back told Red Bull.

"It's difficult because it's been different to how other seasons start, because normally you'll have about three or four games in August, at the weekend, then it's internationals, then they start to introduce the Champions League, after that it will be another international…

"I always see the first part of the season as three small blocks of four weeks with the internationals separating them, and each time you will play a little more football.

"Whereas now, it's as if from the start, you were at your deepest."

The England international says his first defeat of the season, against Manchester United at Old Trafford, left Klopp with a lot to say.

“The manager talks directly after the game,” he added, “then we also have a meeting the next day for about five minutes, and the manager will talk about the game again when he has had some more time to treat it, and it's not just about acting on the emotion.

“That [United] game was probably the biggest game we had at the start of the season, which was tough. »

But Klopp's words didn't have the desired effect and the nadir of the season followed as they lost 4-1 to Napoli, in a result that left the Reds manager admitting that he had to "reinvent" his team.

"I would say the result was good because that's what we deserved, but as far as the way we played, we didn't feel good on the pitch," admitted Alexander-Arnold.

"It wasn't natural, it didn't happen to us, we really needed to look at each other after that. It was a lesson in humility.

"We had meetings, and the focus in training was on our system and how we need to play, where we need to be, the movement of the ball, getting compact, defending well", he said.< /p>

"It was back to the drawing board after Napoli, and making sure we had to start getting our house in order."
