Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia Trailer

"This musical resistance needs us, Ernest!" The adorable bears and mice are back! GKids has re-released the official trailer for the animated adventure sequel titled Ernest and Celestine: A Journey to Gibberitia (this is for the original French version). The sequel to the Oscar-nominated film Ernest & Celestine (2012) features the famed unlikely duo once again - this time back in Ernest's hometown of Gibberitia. Nominated for Best Animated Film at the 48th Cesar of France, Ernest and Celestine: A Journey to Gibberitia debuted in French theaters in December and had its US premiere as the opening film of the New York Children's Film Festival. Jean-Christophe Roger, director of the animated series Ernest & Celestine, has returned to beloved characters as co-director, and is joined by Emmy-nominated co-director Julien Chheng, who worked on the original feature Ernest & Celestine as a character animator, and directed "The Spy Dancer" from the latest series Star Wars: Visions. The English dub cast includes Andrew Kishino, Ashely Boettcher, David Lodge, Anne Yatco, Josephine Marano, Bill Lobley and Daniel Hagan. Gotta love a good groundbreaking kids movie! Looks like an explosion! I will definitely watch this.

Ernest and Celestine return in this delightful and joyful sequel to their first Oscar-nominated adventure, in which a bear and a mouse are the most unlikely of friends. Ernest remains an Ursin troubadour dedicated to a life of music and art, and his constant grumpiness is softened by the creative whims of his mouse friend Celestine. When she accidentally breaks her beloved violin, they must embark on a long journey to Ernest's country, Gibbertia, home to the only artist capable of fixing it. But when they arrive, they are shocked to find that all forms of music have been banned in Gibbertia for many years, and a land once known the world over for its incredible musicians has fallen silent. It's up to Ernest and Celestine and their friends, including a mysterious masked outlaw, to bring music and happiness back to bear country.

Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia, originally known as Ernest et Célestine: Le voyage en Charabie in French, is co-directed by animation filmmakers Jean-Christophe Roger (director of The Storytelling Show and "The New Adventures of Lassie" series) & Julien Chheng (directing his first feature film; producer executive/supervisor on "Primal", director of the short film "The Spy Dancer" for Star Wars: Visions). The screenplay is written by Guillaume Mautalent & Sébastien Oursel, in collaboration with Jean Regnaud; based on an idea by Agnès Bidaud & Didier Brunner, based on the original work by Gabrielle Vincent. This one was initially released in French theaters last December, and has played in many festivals this year. GKids releases Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia in select US theaters (NY and LA initially) beginning September 1, 2023.
