'Barbie' Surpasses $400 Million at Global Box Office Through Monday, 'Oppenheimer' Surpasses $200 Million

After a stunning first weekend, Barbenheimer showed continued strong momentum at the international box office on Monday. Warner Bros.' Barbie meanwhile had the studio's best ever Monday overseas at $32 million in 69 markets (it also scored the studio's best Monday ever domestically). The cumulative offshore total through yesterday is $226.3 million, bringing the global Kenergy to $414.4 million.

As for Universal's Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan's epic biographical thriller added $16.2 million Monday across 78 markets for $114.2 million overseas so far. The worldwide gross is $209.3 million through Monday.

Barbie saw just a 37% drop Monday off from Sunday, while Monday's $32 million accounted for 16% of the weekend's massive launch.

In Europe, the drop from Sunday to Monday was 26%. Additionally, Monday's results represented the best opening Monday for a WB film in 19 markets across the region, including the UK (excluding Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban which opened on a Monday there), Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Latvia, Finland, Cyprus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Slovenia, Serbia and Ukraine.

In Latin America, the Margot Robbie/Ryan Gosling standout performed better on Monday than all the top titles of 2023 in Monday-to-weekend ratio, about three points above average.

Also worth noting, China saw a strong hold of -33% from Sunday to Monday to hit $11 million. The gross through Tuesday (not included in the above totals) is $13.7 million. In France, entries on Monday exceeded those on Thursday and Friday last week. And, in Spain, Monday represented 25% of the weekend, significantly above such headlines...
