Barcelona double would represent a new era in Spain, says Pedri

Pedri believes Barcelona completing the LaLiga and Copa del Rey double this season would represent the start of a new era in Spain.

The Blaugrana are nine points clear at the top of La Liga with 13 games left before Sunday's blockbuster clash with second-placed Real Madrid.

Xavi's side also score a goal in the Copa del Rey semi-final with Los Blancos, which they will face in the return leg on April 5.

Pedri, 20, is one of many youngsters to be instrumental for Barca this season, scoring six times in 22 appearances, with only Robert Lewandowski (15) scoring more in the Spanish top flight.< /p>

And the midfielder, who will miss the latest Clasico after suffering an injury setback, believes a Barca brace would represent a change of guard.

“The younger generation is rising globally,” said the midfielder, who was speaking as a global brand ambassador for TCL Mobile.

"And as for us, we see a lot of these young players emerging with a will to succeed without fearing the pressure of playing for Barca. If we win those two titles, [a new era in Spain] would be confirmed a bit .

"For me it would be a dream to win my first league. Every child dreams of it, and even more so for the club you love. It would be crazy."

Barca would take a giant step towards domestic glory with a win over Madrid at the Camp Nou, where the Blaugrana have not beaten their rivals for five years.

While Pedri doesn't believe the result will determine where the title goes, he urged his teammates to deliver for the fans.

"It's just three more points," he said. "It's a huge turning point because it's against a direct rival. It will be a very difficult match, Real Madrid are always a very difficult opponent. Let's see what happens.

"I hope this year we can bring joy to our fans. They deserved it for a long time. Barca are used to playing and winning at Camp Nou, so we have to aim for victory."

Despite their favorable position, it was yet another disappointing campaign for the club on the European front.

Barca were knocked out of the Champions League group stages for the second year in a row - finishing third behind Bayern Munich and Inter before withdrawing from the Europa League following their play-off loss to Manchester United.

Pedri believes fortune has gone against the Blaugrana, but he's confident they can offer a bigger challenge in Europe's biggest club competition next season.

When asked if they can actually fight for the trophy next season, the 20-year-old replied: "I think so. Barca have to fight for every title and we have a big potential.

"This year, apart from trying harder and having chances until the end, we were a bit unlucky in key moments. Luck was often on the other side, and we suffered

"The level of the teams is much higher. We had to compete against very strong teams like Inter, Bayern Munich, Manchester United. They are three of the best teams at the moment. I am convinced that the next year we will be very successful."
