Beliefs that keep you from having the love and life you want

I just received these shoes I'm wearing this image shown here.

A financial advisor I know wore a pair and when I saw these (supposed) dress shoes with wingtips on top and comfortable white soles on the bottom…

I swore I would never own a pair in my life.

Every time I saw my friend wearing this, I swear I thought it was ridiculous.

I thought they didn't look professional, didn't look like "real dress shoes" and he was just trying to find an excuse to wear sneakers to work.< /p>

But, here I am wearing a new pair of these for a dressy casual event I recently attended.

What changed?

What happened?

Why a sudden embrace of something that once pushed me away?

It's simple and it's the same thing all of us do when we make any kind of change in our lives.

We decide to drop a thought that seemed real just a moment ago and we decide to take another thought, make it seem more real and more important than another thought.

Then we call this new thought our new reality of what is (and isn't) acceptable in our lives and we live by that reality.

That's crazy, isn't it?

But that's what we do every time we make a change in our lives.

We just decide.

We decide that a way of seeing or being in the world no longer works for us.

Then we adopt a new belief (we start calling it real) and we start doing something else or living in another way because of our new way of seeing the world.

Like… the time I decided I didn't like the me I was when I was drinking.

Like… the time I decided to take a job that didn't pay very well so I could be with my son more often when he was young.

Like…the time I had the idea to sell the most beautiful house I've ever lived in…

We all have those moments in our lives where we made a simple decision one minute and our lives were forever changed the next minute.

What I've discovered is that we all make these simple decisions all the time that can be completely life changing.

These days, I'm looking MUCH deeper into my "whys" than I ever have.

I want to ask myself questions like…

"What will this give me (or choose this) that I don't already have?"

If the answer is "nothing", I still know what to do.

Nothing.

If the answer opens up new possibilities, I go for it.

I wasn't always like that.

Now I know that happiness, fun, love, success or anything else is never "out there".

It's still an inside job and I can change what I make at any time.

This, as I always say… Good to know.

So what about those shoes I thought were ridiculous, but now I'm proud to own a pair?

I had not only seen that I had unfairly judged this financial advisor years ago…

But I also gave myself permission to change my idea of what was real and logical to do right now.

I didn't cling to an idea that I now saw wasn't real.

And that's what we can all do to create happier, more loving relationships.

We can choose to be nicer.

We can choose to listen better.

We can choose love instead of fear and anger.

We can let go of our judgments (of ourselves) and others.

We can also know that it is also normal to change our point of view on someone, something and especially on ourselves.
