An 11-12 month old boy was allegedly kicked out of a flight for a journey without a person, in the context of a dispute concerning regulations relating to child passengers.

Jack Garland was trying to travel with his thirteen-year-old sister Scarlett on a Jetstar flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast in October when he learned he could not fly and was taken off the plane.

Meanwhile, his sister was reportedly notified that she had to leave the flight to accompany her younger brother who was escorted back into the terminal.

The flight then took off and Scarlett arrived on the Gold Coast without her brother, and left terrified of where he has now transformed.

Their mother, Emma Garland, said Jack had become "inconsolable" at not being able to travel, although she said she checked with the airline beforehand.

The original reservation included their father. However, an exchange of circumstances rendered him unable to tour and his name was removed from the booking.

Emma said Jetstar learned children could still tour given her daughter was 13.

Their mother Emma Garland said that Jack had become 'inconsolable' at not being able to travel even though he claimed she had checked with the airline in advance.

However, while the children were sitting at the flight, his son was eliminated and no clarification was given to his harassed sister.

Mum Emma said the incident was "horrible" for her own family.

She told Channel 9's Today Show: 'It has become one of the most awful days of our lives as a parenting circle.

"Just the fact that Scarlett and Jack flew alone for the first time was traumatic enough, then getting Jack's decision saying he was pulled from the flight and he didn't really understand why - he was right next to him."

“No one had told Scarlett what had happened and by the time she arrived on the Gold Coast she had become beside herself not understanding what had happened to her brother ",

The price-range airline apologized for the ordeal, saying the workforce "should have dealt with it higher".
