Boy, 4, 'beaten to death for stealing chocolates' but mum claims he fell in bathtub

A mother and stepfather allegedly beat a four-year-old boy to death for eating chocolates.

Victoria Belen Godoy and her father-in-law Luis Alberto Gallo claimed their son Renzo 'fallen out of the bathtub' and was seriously injured before taking him to a health facility in the province's Berazategui district from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Baby Renzo was pronounced dead upon arrival and an autopsy suggests he was badly beaten. Other bruises, not from the alleged beatings, were also present on his body.

Godoy and Gallo are currently in police custody, charged with murder. Renzo's grandmother collected his body on December 23 for burial.

Police also allege Gallo beat him for eating the candy he brought home for his daughters-in-law to enjoy.

According to local media, neither is speaking and both are exercising their right to remain silent. The couple had been together for about 14 months and lived with five children.

The children, all from Godoy, included a two-month-old boy, two girls and Renzo belonged to Gallo from a previous relationship, while another 10-year-old boy was in their care from another relationship.< /p>

The couple's alleged crime was reportedly exposed when Renzo's half-brother took advice with therapists.

He reportedly said Gallo told Renzo, "Bon O Bons are for girls."

Gallo, the boy said, grabbed him by the throat and forced him to tell him who ate the treats.
