A British pensioner was thrown through the air after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run while crossing the road in Thailand and left unconscious on the road, it has been reported.< /p>

Peter Palmer, 74, was on vacation in Chonburi when a white Isuzu D-Max pickup hit him at a zebra crossing.

CCTV footage of the horrific incident, which happened on Monday morning, has emerged and shows Mr Palmer waiting at the crossing before crossing the road, with three cars appearing to slow in the distance.

But just as he is about to reach halfway, footage shows the white van continuing to move along the road and slamming into the pensioner with enough force to topple the 74-year-old man in the air before landing heavily on the tarmac.

The other two cars stopped in horror as the assailant drove off, leaving Mr. Palmer slumped in the middle of the three-lane road and several yards from the zebra crossing.
