A Briton who caused panic among his relatives after disappearing in Kenya has been found in a pub after four days of hardship.

Nelson Newbery, 22, disappeared on December 6, causing panic among friends and family and prompting Kenya's elite crime units to launch a police manhunt in Nairobi.

Police said they found him under the influence of drugs and alcohol after they 'stormed' a local pub in Uthiru, in the northwest of Nairobi city centre, and found Mr Newbery safe having a drink with his new friends.< /p>

According to Linkedin, Mr. Newbery started working in Nairobi in June as Chief Operating Officer for ChaiT Limited.

The Briton went to buy a SIM card last Tuesday and after that he hasn't heard from him since, prompting his father to fly out of England.

Apparent footage of Mr Newbery from the day he disappeared shows him in Nairobi's Sarit Mall, dressed in a black T-shirt and carrying a bag.

"A British citizen who has been missing since Tuesday December 6 has finally been found by detectives," Kenya's Criminal Investigations Directorate said.

They shared the statement with pictures of Mr. Newbery with facial injuries and with his father, but there was no statement explaining why he appeared to have a black eye.
