Chelsea beat Lyon on penalties to join Arsenal, Barca and Wolfsburg in the WCL semi-finals

March 31 – Arsenal and Chelsea made it two English clubs in the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League. The last time two English teams reached this stage was in the 2017-18 season.

Chelsea enjoyed a spectacular quarter-final as they beat defending champions Lyon at Stamford Bridge on penalties after the two-leg draw 2-2.

Chelsea went into the game with a one-goal advantage in the first leg, but Vanessa Gilles sent a 77th-minute corner past Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger to add extra time.

Lyon then took the lead through substitute Sara Dabritz when she drove a finish into the far corner after 110 minutes.

As the clock ticked, Lauren James drove into the box and was knocked down by Vicki Becho. VAR gave away a penalty and Maren Mjelde stepped up the pressure to fire home the kick and set up a shootout highlight.

Chelsea's hero was goalkeeper Berger who made two superb saves from Lindsey Horan and Wendie Renard as the Londoners won the shootout 4-3.

Arsenal reached the last four for the first time in 10 years after beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in their round of 16 second leg on Wednesday, going 2-1 on aggregate.

Frida Maanum and Stina Blackstenius scored in the first half at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal overturned a 1-0 deficit against the leaders of the Women's Bundesliga to secure a draw against VfL Wolfsburg, who beat PSG 2-1 on aggregate.

Barcelona qualified for the semi-finals for the fifth consecutive year by beating Roma 5-1 for a 6-1 aggregate scoreline. Barca now go to Chelsea.
