Chelsea set asking price at £35m amid 'three-way battle' but Man Utd are 'crazy' around £100m

Chelsea have reportedly told their rivals it will cost them £35million if they want to sign United States international Christian Pulisic in January.

The midfielder hoped a fresh start under Graham Potter would do him good as he wasn't quite on board with former club boss Thomas Tuchel.

Pulisic spoke out remarkably against the German after leaving Chelsea earlier this season.

The American was particularly aggrieved to be left out of Chelsea's starting XI for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid in 2021.

"Tuchel told me he was resting me for the second leg and therefore I didn't play a single minute in the Fulham game," Pulisic said.

"Then on the day of the second semi-final match, Tuchel tells me that he has changed his mind and is leaving with Kai [Havertz]. Honestly, I was stunned and very disappointed.

"I thought I deserved a start and, more importantly, he assured me beforehand that I was going to start.

"So by the time he brought me in with about 25 minutes left, I was so pissed off."

No doubt to his frustration, Pulisic's fortunes haven't improved too much since Potter took over. He's been in and out of the team and he's struggled to make a meaningful impact.

The Blues paid around £58m to sign Pulisic and it's fair to say now that he was unsuccessful at Stamford Bridge. So far this season, he has registered just one goal and two assists in 18 appearances.

Pulisic tends to perform much better in a United shirt and he played well against England in the World Cup group stages earlier this week.

It has fueled talks of a move elsewhere and Man Utd are among the clubs interested in him.

The Red Devils were linked with him just before the summer transfer window closed, but the transfer could be back on the table before January.

It has been suggested that Man Utd are 'showing interest again' in adding Pulisic to their squad.

The Daily Mail is now reporting that Chelsea are 'considering whether to take advantage of the 24-year-old during the January window rather than let his contract run out until the final 12 months '.

It is also 'expected' that Chelsea will 'seek around £35million' for Pulisic in January. The report adds that the player and the club 'do not want a loan'.

There is said to be a 'three-way battle' for Pulisic as Arsenal and Newcastle United are also 'monitoring his developments'.

Pulisic isn't the only midfielder Man Utd are eyeing, however. They are also 'crazy' about Argentina and Benfica star Enzo Fernandez.

The 21-year-old made an impact at the World Cup by getting on the scoresheet in Argentina's 2-0 win over Mexico earlier this week.

Any deal for Fernandez will be costly, however, as his current deal includes a £100m release clause.
