The home side looked on course for at least a draw as they went 132-2 to build on an 18 first set lead.

But setter Wright, with 4-49, and left-arm spinner Parkinson, who took 4-63, then caused a collapse that saw Gloucestershire s 'collapse to 202.

That left Leicestershire needing 221 to win in a minimum of 47 overs . They needed just 41.2 as 18-year-old England Test all-rounder Rehan Ahmed led the way with a swift 71 and Colin Ackermann made 78 unscored for a 221-5 tally .

The visitors took 22 points in their second Championship victory of the season, while their opponents , still looking for their first success after being relegated from Division One last season, had to settle for six.

Gloucestershire started the day nine unbeaten in their second run, leading by 27. With just 14 added, Ben Charlesworth earned a delivery that turned and bounced from Parkinson, who he edged to Ackermann to slip.

It was 47-2 when Chris Dent on the 21st fell lbw on a yorker leg kick from Josh Hull.

But Miles Hammond survived a tough opportunity against Parkinson before scoring and gained so much confidence that it looked like he might even help his team set a difficult goal.
