A row of 'Berlin Walls' has burst after a couple were ordered by the City Council to halve the height of the garden fence outside their £280,000 home.< /p>

The council has issued an enforcement notice, which could expose them to legal action if they disobey the order.

But the couple, who both worked in the RAF, say they are unfairly victimized because none of their neighbors received the same order.

Wiltshire Council has given former RAF administrator Susan Paul, 53, and her partner Andrew Doyle, 58, until mid-March to reduce the height of the fence by 50% three years old 164 feet long (50 meters).

Made of closed-plank wood, it stands about six and a half feet tall (two meters).

But the couple say they are harassed because "nothing happened"

to the owners of several other fences on the street, which they claim are exactly the same height.

Council, reportedly alerted by a whistleblower, issued the order 21 months after the couple erected the fence.

They installed the fence in January 2020 outside their £280,000 home in Amesbury.

It extends on either side of their boundary facing the road, around the corner.
