Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and More Honor Robbie Coltrane: 'You Made Us Family'

Harry Potter cast and fans are saddened to learn of the passing of Robbie Coltrane, his agent, Belinda Wright, confirmed to POPSUGAR on Oct. 14. He was 72 years old. The actor was best known for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the Wizarding franchise, a character he played in all eight films prior to the Fantastic Beasts prequel film series.

In the wake of Coltrane's death, tributes from the star's Harry Potter fans and family poured in on social media. Author and creator J.K. Rowling wrote of Coltrane on Twitter: "He was an incredible talent, an all round talent, and I got more of a chance to know him, work with him, and laugh with him."< /p>

The official Wizarding World Twitter account also paid tribute to Coltrane in a tweet which reads: "We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the magnificent Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid with such kindness, heart and humor in the Harry Potter films. . He was a wonderful actor, a friend to all and will be deeply missed."

Others, like Daniel Radcliffe, wrote a sweet tribute to Coltrane in a statement. "Robbie was one of the funniest people I've met and constantly made us laugh when we were kids on set," he wrote in a caption. " . . . I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to meet and work with him and very sad that he passed away. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man."
