A 14-year-old boy died three weeks after receiving his Covid vaccine, an inquest has found.

Coroner Pat O'Connor, of County Mayo, Ireland, described the death as a "significant public concern".

Joseph McGinty was vaccinated with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine on August 20, 2021.

He died at his home on Achill Island, Mayo, just over three weeks later on September 13, reports the Irish Mirror.

A request for safety information from Covid-19 vaccine maker Pfizer is to be part of the "thorough investigation" into the death.

Joseph suffered significant medical deterioration following the administration of the vaccine, according to the inquest.

He was hospitalized on September 1 and spent the night at Mayo University Hospital before being discharged the following day.

He went to the hospital again on September 8 for an examination.

"The circumstances of Joseph McGinty's death are that he was given the Covid vaccination," Mr O'Connor said.

"That there appears to have been either a reaction or a significant change in his medical condition following the administration of the vaccine and that subsequently, unfortunately, Master McGinty passed away."

Patricia McGinty officially identified her son's remains on the day of his death, but 'remembers very little of the morning in question', family lawyer Ms Rita Kilroy of Lavelle Bourke Solicitors told the court .
