In late afternoon, early spring, the surface of Loch Tay is like glass .
A sprinkle of snow covers the nearby hills as the setting sun casts rough reflections on the water. If you had one you could indeed hear a pin drop.
Loch Tay is nestled in Highland Perthshire about an hour north of the town from Perth.
You won't find the noisy motorboats that besiege Loch Lomond here, nor the noisy hordes of monster-hunting tourists besieging Loch Ness.< /p>
Instead there is a tranquility and privacy, not to mention the scenery so spectacular it once bewitched Queen Victoria and inspired a song by Ed Sheeran.
There are four boathouses, which are part of the larger portfolio of luxury holiday retreats owned by the Loch Tay holiday company. Perched over the water, our house, Dipper Lodge, stands on stilts, its floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views over the loch. It feels wonderfully remote.
