Edward Snowden has expressed interest in becoming the CEO of Twitter, going so far as to say he is open to accepting Bitcoin BTC/USD payments.

What happened: in response to Elon Musk's tweet stating that the challenge is not to find a CEO, but to find one who can keep Twitter alive , Snowden said, "I take payment in bitcoin."

Snowden is a former intelligence contractor who rose to prominence in 2013 for leaking classified National Security Agency information. His revelation exposed the extent of US government surveillance of domestic and international communications.

On December 4, Musk polled users on whether whistleblowers Snowden and WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange should be pardoned by the US government.

The poll received an overwhelming response in its first hour, with more than 560,000 votes cast. An overwhelming majority of those polled - a staggering 80.5% - voted to pardon the two whistleblowers.

After exposing alleged wrongdoing and surveillance of the US military and intelligence services by leaking confidential and sensitive information, Assange and Snowden both live in exile.
