Emma Raducanu sends a cryptic message on social networks after confirming the return of tennis

Emma Raducanu shared a cryptic tweet just a day after signing up for her first post-surgery tournament. The Briton underwent three surgeries in May and has just returned to indoor training. And she posted sponge and tennis ball emojis saying she had a "good day".

Raducanu has been out since May, when she had surgery on both wrists and an ankle. The former world number 10 has since missed the French Open and her home Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon. But there seems to be good news for the 20-year-old as she shared a mysterious message on social media.

"Today was a good day - [sponge emoji [tennis ball emoji]," she tweeted Thursday night. It comes days after the Brit returned to the gym for the first time, as she previously posted photos of herself on an exercise bike.

Raducanu has also already entered a tournament for the first time since going under the knife. The US Open champion joined a star-studded field at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, an exhibition tournament taking place in December.

The tournament takes place on December 2 and 3. It is a mixed event with two men's singles matches and one mixed doubles match on Saturday, as well as a women's singles match and two men's singles matches on Sunday. Raducanu will face Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic in the women's match.

Top 10 stars Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are also on the roster, along with local star Wu Yibing. "There will be an even greater connection with the local community," said Luiz Carvalho, senior vice president of IMG - the agency that represents Raducanu and is also involved in organizing the tournament - after Raducanu and Yibing were confirmed.

"Emma's Chinese roots and remarkable rise to stardom by winning the US Open have made her a global sensation, while Wu Yibing's historic feat as the first Chinese national to win an ATP tournament has dramatically elevated her position in world tennis."

Raducanu hasn't played a professional match since the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April, where she lost to Jelena Ostapenko in the first round. She was then due to play in Madrid but pulled out a few hours before her match and - a few days later - announced that she was to undergo surgery.

After winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier, she will miss the tournament this year as she continues her recovery. Raducanu's name was missing when the entry list was released this week. But following her latest post, fans might see her on the tennis court soon.
