"I think people need to realize that gaming is not just about sitting at your desk all day."
Kelsie Grieg, or Kels as she is known in the gaming world, made history by becoming the first woman to qualify for the Call of Duty Challengers tournament Elite.
But her journey to becoming a story-maker has been far from smooth and simple.
The 22-year-old Scot only entered the game "by accident", after an injury ended her footballing career.
"I ended up meeting people who are currently in esports, professional gamers. And then I was introduced to the big world of esports," she told BBC Newsbeat.
"I had no realized how easy it was to meet people. And I wasn't too bad at it, so that made a difference."
But being in a male-dominated environment meant that Kels wasn't immediately accepted, with other men doubting the quality of a player, or at least they did at the time. ", she said.
