Evan Peters was originally intended for the role in Season 2 of Will Sharpe's 'White Lotus'

Evan Peters was supposed to eat pasta in 2022.

The 'Dahmer' star won the Golden Globe for his controversial portrayal of cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer on the Netflix series, but 'The White Lotus' executive producer David Bernad has revealed Peters is on about to fly to Sicily for season 2 of the viral HBO show. Peters was slated to play Ethan, the tech millionaire married to Aubrey Plaza.

"This game was the last game we played in the season, and it was originally supposed to be Evan Peters, but for some reason - schedule or timing - it didn't work out," said said Bernad (via Deadline).

"Giri/Haji" actor Will Sharpe was cast instead.

"We were really trying to figure out how to cast this part so it doesn't look like a familiar cast" , Bernad said. "We were in Rome auditioning Italian actors, and I was jet lagged on Google at 4am and came across Will Sharpe in 'Giri/Haji', which is a brilliant show in the UK. I I had never seen him before and he was just incredibly talented. I looked at his other work and realized he was kind of a chameleon."

Sharpe earlier spoke to IndieWire about the role, which found Ethan going from docile, diplomatic husband to raging vengeful and jealous of infidelity. "[Creator] Mike [White] wanted him to be a bit of an enigma, and kind of have the audience guessing about him somehow," Sharpe said. “[White] wanted people to imagine that Ethan might end up killing someone. I was aware of this while playing it throughout the series, while trying to reach for the truth in every moment and keeping an eye on the long game. »

Peters isn't the only Netflix star who was supposed to be cast in another viral show. Jenna Ortega was originally written into Season 4 of "You," reprising her Season 2 character of Ellie Alves, before "Wednesday" production interfered.

"We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, 'Oh, Jenna is putting on a show,'" 'You' showrunner Sera Gamble told IndieWire. "It was such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again."
