Forgotten Man Utd star plans to ditch Old Trafford this summer; Nottingham Forest are 'open' to his signing

Dean Henderson is set to leave Manchester United this summer after being frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities, according to reports.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest. However, injuries and the arrival of Keylor Navas also dropped him down the pecking order at City Ground.

Henderson certainly has the quality to be one of the best goalkeepers of his era, so it will be interesting to see if any Premier League clubs join him this summer.

That's according to Football Insider, who claims that Henderson will look to leave Old Trafford for good at the end of the season as he doesn't want to compete with David de Gea for a scouting start next quarter.

The Spanish goalkeeper is reportedly in talks with Man Utd over a new contract. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Henderson could make it into Ten Hag's starting XI.

As mentioned, Henderson is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest. But, despite getting some first-team action first, he has fallen down the pecking order since Navas arrived at the City Ground in January.

Overall, the once-capped England international has made 18 Premier League appearances for the Tricky Trees. He conceded 31 goals, but also kept six clean sheets.

As previously reported by Football365, Forest boss Steve Cooper has claimed Henderson is 'unlikely to play again this season' after sustaining a thigh injury in training.

Although it seems unlikely that he will play again this season, due to the arrival of Navas. Although the former Real Madrid goalkeeper is only on loan, he will return to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

With that in mind, Forest are said to be 'open' to signing Henderson permanently this summer. But they will only do so if they achieve their Premier League status.

Henderson is under contract at Man Utd until 2025, so Forest will have to put their money in their mouths to get a deal down the line.

Cooper's team currently sit 17th in the standings, just one point from the bottom three. With Southampton looking destined for downfall, it looks like it will be between Forest, Everton, Leeds and Leicester battling for survival

Forest picked up three valuable points after beating Brighton last week but were dealt a blow by Brentford on Saturday, who scored a 94th-minute winner to take all three points.

Now the Tricky Trees will face Southampton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace as they seek to avoid an instant return to the Championship.
