The 20 foods that should never be eaten on a train have been revealed - and smoked mackerel is coming at the top of the ranking.

In a survey that determines "the least appealing foods to eat on a train", smoked mackerel gets 49% of the vote, boiled eggs came second at 43% and curry third at 41%.

Fourth was egg sandwiches (36%), while 35% said blue cheese (fifth) should never be eaten on the rails.

Smoked mackerel isn't the only unpopular fish dish to eat mid - course - crab sticks (sixth joint, 34%), tuna pasta (seventh, 33%), shrimp (seventh, 33%), tuna sandwiches (eighth, 31%) and sushi (ninth , 24%) are also frowned upon as snacks on the rails.
