They feature in the blog's Northern Lights Photographer of the Year collection, which he presents each year to "inspire and share the beauty of this natural phenomenon."

This year's list features stunning photography that was captured all over the United States to New Zealand to Norway by 25 photographers from 13 different nationalities.

Dan Zafra, the editor of Capture the Atlas, keep these photos and keep an eye out for photos that were taken in places where the Northern Lights are not usually photographed. Some of the unique memorable images to appear in this edition include a photo taken in a since collapsed glacial cave in Alaska and others that were taken in rare aurora viewing locations in Denmark and Michigan.

Capture the Atlas says: "The lifting of travel restrictions and increased solar activity with the new solar cycle [the cycle that the Sun's magnetic field goes through] provides great opportunities to see dazzling aurora shows. After two difficult years, we are once again seeing an increasing number of outstanding Northern Lights images, making this the most challenging selection from this collection to date.
