VR training simulator developer FundamentalVR has raised $20 million in Series B funding. Led by EQT Life Sciences, joined by Downing Ventures, this investment follows a Series A funding round last October . Between the two rounds, the company managed to raise over $30 million.

FundamentalVR's medical simulation platform, Fundamental Surgery, is an interesting approach to medical training. Using HacpticVR, their patented haptic simulation technology, the program mimics the physical sensation of performing medical procedures. With this program, doctors can train from anywhere in the world and give students the real feel of performing surgery.

"Our platform can perform a step-by-step procedure to a complete operation, facilitating the transfer of surgical skills - which is why we have been enthusiastically received throughout the medical industry, from medical device manufacturers to pharmaceuticals,” said FundamentalVR co-Founder and CEO Richard Vincent, in a press release. “Our immersive environments transform surgical skill acquisition in a scalable, low-cost, multi-user way. We are excited to expand our vision of creating a borderless medical education environment. »

Performing surgery in virtual reality is a safer and more effective way to learn

This latest investment will go towards the development, machine learning data analysis and expansion across the United States. Drew Burdon, a partner at EQT Life Sciences, will join FundamentalVR's board of directors as part of the transaction.
