Liz Truss came under fire from all quarters tonight as even senior Tories bet on her sloppy handling of the economy.

The blundering Prime Minister has been urged to ditch his tax cuts for the wealthy as the financial crisis worsens amid fears for pensions, mortgages and jobs.

Ms. Truss, who has tried to blame herself for the chaos caused by the mini-budget, is left with three choices.

One is to go ahead with plans to hand back £15.4bn to big business by reversing a rise in corporation tax next year, despite warnings it will devastate the economy.< /p>

The second is to cut public spending, bringing misery to millions of people.

Or she can undo her tax cuts in a humiliating U-turn.

Tory MP Robert Halfon has accused the Prime Minister of “trashing the last 10 years of conservatism” by giving tax cuts to the wealthy.

And after a grim meeting with backbench MPs tonight, in which the Prime Minister was said to have looked shocked, another MP said: 'Liz either needs to get rid of her tax cuts, or she'll be the one leaving."< /p>

Tory Stephen Hammond said it would make "sense" for the Prime Minister to waive corporation tax, as he urged her to prioritize "making sure the poorest in our company are supported".
