The club hosts over 5,000 children, and Gavin's performance was the first major in-person event they had planned since the COVID shutdown. That's why the organizers were so disappointed when Gavin had to cancel the day of the event.

Our sources tell us that the singer's team informed the Boys & Girls Club that Gavin had become so ill that he had to be hospitalized...and would not be able to make it to the event.

We were told that the event organizers had already spent $20,000 on production costs and ended up using the band originally booked for their after-party to replace Gavin.

It's unclear what Gavin's illness was - our sources say his appearance fee will be reimbursed, but the club will not recoup production and rider costs.

Naturally, there were disappointed people at the fundraiser.
