A man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl who was forced to travel to another state for an abortion has been charged.
Gerson Fuentes was indicted on two counts of rape by a grand jury in Columbus, Ohio.
The 27-year-old confessed to police that he raped the girl twice before being arrested and charged earlier this month.
Court documents presented to a grand jury on Thursday revealed that the girl was only nine years old when she was assaulted.
The doctor who then performed the abortion described how the girl had to travel to neighboring Indiana, where the procedure remains legal today.
Its general assembly will hold a special session to discuss abortion policy restrictions on July 25.

The abortion ban went into effect in Ohio on Friday, and two Kentucky abortion providers immediately closed their doors.
This came just hours after the Supreme Court announced its decision to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.
