A five-year-old girl died after being bitten by a snake while playing hide and seek.

The child was playing in her father's house in Bihar, India, when she was attacked by the dangerous reptile.

The girl was rushed to North Dinajpur Raiganj Hospital.

Unfortunately, doctors were unable to treat her and she later died in hospital.

Forty snakes were discovered on the property following the incident, according to local sources.

Snakes were herded into bags and containers for removal, with large audiences gathered to watch.

Earlier this month, Simon Currat of Colorado died days in hospital after being bitten by the rattlesnake

They were released in a nearby forest, according to local reports.

Earlier this month, The Mirror reported that a six-year-old boy had died after being bitten by a rattlesnake while out on a bike ride with his father and sister.

Simon Currat was taken off life support after the snakebite left him in a coma on July 5.

The six-year-old boy was cycling with his father Nic and three-year-old sister Renee at the Bluestem Prairie Open Space in Colorado Springs, USA.

When the family stopped for a drink of water, Simon ran ahead to take a look at a road sign before shouting "rattlesnake".

The youngster then collapsed and began to turn purple as his father ran towards him.

Nic didn't have his phone so he grabbed his son and rushed him to the nearest neighborhood, with Renee running beside them.
